Our Progress

Following the MSBA phased approach, our project is currently in Module 5: Funding the Project. This timeline lays out how we got to this point and what is to follow.

MODULE 1:
Eligibility Period

December 2018 – April 2020

  • District completes requirements determined by MSBA
  • Spencer and East Brookfield towns voted to approve moving forward with a Feasibility Study
  • Goal: Develop a plan and schematic design for  a new regional high school
  • Status: Complete

MODULE 2:
Forming the Project Team

May 2020 – April 2021

  • Generation of School Building Sub-Committee & Selection of Owner’s Project Manager Firm
  • Status: Complete

MODULE 3:
Feasibility Study

May 2021 – December 2021

  • Educational Visioning Sessions

  • Evaluation of Existing Conditions

  • Site Development Requirements

  • Develop several options, including Base Repair, Add/Reno, and All New

  • Narrow to a Preferred Option

  • Present to MSBA

  • Status: Complete

MODULE 4:
Schematic Design

December 2021 – Present

  • Adjust & finalize design: present to the community for input
  • Develop cost estimate 
  • Present to MSBA for approval
  • Status: Complete

MODULE 6:
Design Development, Construction Documentation & Bidding

Estimated: December 2022 – November 2023

The District and its team advance the design, generate construction documentation, procure bids and award a construction contract in accordance with the agreed upon project scope, budget and schedule as documented in the Project Funding Agreement, and the requirements contained in the MSBA’s standard contracts for Owner’s Project Management and Designer Services. The MSBA continues to monitor the project to ensure it remains on track and meets the expectation of both the District and the MSBA as defined in the Project Funding Agreement

MODULE 7:
Construction Administration

Estimated: December 2023 – August 2026

The MSBA continues to monitor progress of the project to confirm that it remains on track and meets the expectation of both the District and the MSBA as defined in the Project Funding Agreement.

MODULE 8:
Project Closeout

August 2026 – October 2027

The MSBA performs final audit to determine final total grant amounts and make final payment.
